Join MML for our weekly Building Bookworms Storytime on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Take a look below for our themes. All materials and services are provided by the library free to participants. On Thursday, May 8, join MML’s After-School Adventures at 3:30 p.m. We will be making paper spinners. This free activity will have a small snack provided.

Join us for Paint Night at the Library on Tuesday, April 29, at 7:00 p.m., at the Milford Memorial Library. Any skill level is invited to recreate a painting following step-by-step instructions from the original artist. All of the supplies will be provided by the libraries. There are only 20 spots available. Cost for this activity is $15 and we ask that participants pay prior to the class. Take a look into the past with Dickinson County’s Digital Archives. You will be able to browse Dickinson County newspapers from 1870 to 2024. This free online resource can be found on the Milford Memorial Library’s website, www.milford.lib.ia.us, under the “Use Our Library” and “Helpful Resources” tabs.

The Milford Memorial Library Book Club will be discussing When Books Went to War by Molly Guptill Manning on Tuesday, April 15, at 1:00 p.m. Any interested individuals may find copies at MML. It is not necessary to attend all of the meetings, and you are welcome to come and go as you please.

Join MML for CrAFTER Hours on Wednesday, April 16, at 5:00 p.m. This month we will be creating concrete egg candles. Cost is $5. Register now by calling MML at 338-4643.

MML’s All-Day Play will be held on Monday, April 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This is a come-and-go play time that kids can experience different toys with their friends.

Fourth through twelfth graders are invited to make crayon slime on Monday, April 21, during Y.A. Maker Monday! Supplies will be available for this free come-and-go activity from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Stop by the Milford Memorial Library to see the brass collection provided by Amy O’Connor. This display will be available through May.

Saturday April 5, is the last day to turn in your master pieces for MML’s Spring Coloring Contest! We will have a winner in each of the following age groups, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, and 9-10. The pictures will also be hung up in the library for the rest of April.

Your last day to complete the Milford Memorial Library Spring Egg Hunt is Saturday, April 5. Complete the hunt and turn in your paper to be entered into a drawing. The Spring Hunt prizes are sponsored by the Friends of the Milford Library.

Join MML's After-School Adventures on Thursday, April 10, at 3:30 p.m. We will be decorating wind chimes. A small snack will be provided. This is free activity with all materials provided by the library.

Kids, 10 years of age and under, are invited to join Milford Memorial Library’s Spring Coloring Contest! They may pick up their coloring sheet at MML. Age groupings will include ages 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-10 years old. All completed papers need to be turned by Saturday, April 5.

Milford Memorial Library’s Annual Spring Egg Hunt is going on now! This event will have fourth graders through adults exploring MML while trying to find twelve items. Participants can pick up the Spring Egg Hunt Sheet at MML’s front desk. Turn in completed sheet to be entered into a prize drawing. The Spring Hunt prizes are sponsored by the Friends of the Milford Library. The hunt is over on Saturday, April 5.

On Wednesday, April 2, at 5:30 p.m., an open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will take place in the Milford Community Center. The agenda will be posted on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer their thoughts in order to make MML a better library.

Kids and families can stop at any of the participating host business and take home free books from the Books in Businesses shelf. All books are free to take and the shelves will be restocked. This program was made possible through an Early Childhood Iowa Grant. Thank you to the host businesses: Boji Ware Apparel and Gifts, Eckard Chiropractic, Hicks Family Healthcare, The Okoboji Cyclist, and Zen Salon and Day Spa.

Four Bingos in a row equals a small prize, and a completed bingo card equals a prize drawing entry. Monday, March 31, is the last day to turn in your bingo cards.

Milford Memorial Library has Federal 1040 tax forms and the instruction booklets. The Federal 1040 forms are available in English, Spanish, and large print. MML is charging for copying and printing tax forms. Blank Tax forms cost $0.10 per page and filled out tax forms will cost $0.20 per page. One week until MML's Blind Date with a Book ends! All ages are welcome to take a chance at finding a new favorite. You will find a bookmark located inside your book. Complete and return the bookmark to MML for a chance a winning a prize drawing. Last day is Friday, February 28. Thank you to the Friends of the Milford Library for sponsoring the prizes.

On Tuesday, February 18, at 1:00 p.m., join the Milford Memorial Library Book Club for a discussion about The Movement by Clara Bingham. Copies can be found at the Milford Memorial Library. It is not necessary to attend all of the book meetings, and you are welcome to come and go as you please.

On our webpage, milford.lib.ia.us, under the “Use Our Library” and “Helpful Resources” tabs, you will find links to the Dickinson County News Digital Archives and the Dickinson County Cemetery Records. In MML’s Physical nonfiction section, you can locate books like The Family Tree Toolkit by Kenyatta D. Berry, The Everything Guide to Online Genealogy by Kimberly Powell, How to Do Everything – Genealogy by George G. Morgan, along with books on local history and school yearbooks. Some materials are for in-library use only.

Celebrate Tell a Fairy Tale Day by using an open-book or a castle cake pan from MML. We have a variety of fairytales and fairytale retellings. To reserve materials, you may MML at call 712-338-4643 or online at milford.lib.ia.us.
