On Tuesday, May 19, at 7:00 p.m., join us for Paint Night at the Library! Cost for registration is $15. This month we will be painting welcome mats. Choose your saying and then it will be free painting around that. Contact Milford Memorial Library or Arnolds Park Public Library to register.
 
 
Join us for MML's CrAFTER Hours on Wednesday, May 20, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. This month is Italian Desserts 101. You will learn how to make a few different items at this class. Cost is $5. Make sure to preregister by calling MML at 712-338-4643.
 
Milford Memorial Library Book Club is on Tuesday, May 19, at 1:00 p.m. Discussing Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green. Copies of this book can be found at MML.

Join us for MML’s CrAFTER Hours on Wednesday, May 20, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This month, we will be focusing on Italian Deserts. You will be able to create a few tasty items during this class. Cost is $5. Make sure to preregister by calling Milford Memorial Library.
 
Paint Night at the Library will on Tuesday, May 19, at 7:00 p.m.  Join us this month, to paint a door mat. Cost for registration is $15. Contact Milford Memorial Library or Arnolds Park Library to register and for any questions.
 
The Milford Memorial Library Book Club invites you to join them on Tuesday, May 19, at 1:00 p.m. They will be discussing Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green. Interested individuals may find a copy at MML. It is not necessary to attend all of the meetings, and you are welcome to come and go as you please.
 
These books made it to the screen this year. The People You Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry, Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt, and Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen. During the month of April, a few of the most popular books at Milford Memorial Library have been The of Golden by Allen Levi and The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. Both are warm stories of connection, community, and life. Contact MML to reserve.  
 
Do you have a child learning how to tie shoes? We recommend the picture book called Loops by Jashar Awan. Follow a little boy learning to tie his shoes and the importance of keeping them tied. The book also has illustrated step by step instructions of how to tie a shoe. Reserve this book and others at Milford Memorial Library by calling 712-338-4643 or online at milford.lib.ia.us.

 Stop in to Milford Memorial Library for a cozy place to read, work, and relax. MML has soft chairs for relaxing while reading books, newspapers, and magazines. Large tables are available for projects that might need a bit more space.  Computers and WiFi are free and available. The library is open: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We look forward having you visit us! 
 
On Wednesday, May 6, at 5:30 p.m., an open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will take place in the Milford Community Center. The agenda will be posted on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Join us on WEDNESDAY, April 29, at 7:00 p.m. for Paint Night at the Library! With step-by-step instructions, Kris will guide you to create an acrylic painting of looking out a window with flowers. Cost for registration is $15. Contact Milford Memorial Library or Arnolds Park Library with any questions.
 
Did you know Milford Memorial Library patrons have free 24/7 access to books, audiobooks, magazines, and more? With an eligible library card, you have access to electronic library apps Libby and Hoopla.  
*Libby runs like a library. After you register your card, you may check out and reserve materials. Materials are loaned for two weeks and returned automatically. Patrons may check out up to 5 materials at a time, but as often as they would like.
*The Hoopla app is similar to a streaming service. Borrowed material(s) are available right away. No holds or wait times.
Books, audiobooks, magazines, movies, tv shows, music, each have their own loan periods and credit amounts. Materials will return themselves. Patrons receive 5 credits per month, patrons are not able to borrow a material if they do not have enough credits. The credits reset every month. To help you get more for your credit, Hoopla does provide the Binge Pass. This bundles similar content together for patrons to check out. Ever wondered what the past was really like? Milford Memorial Library can help.  MML has a local history collection available for browsing. Ancestory.com Library Edition, can be accessed on library computers and Wi-Fi. Located on the Milford Memorial Library website (milford.lib.ia.us), under “Helpful Resources”, you will find the Dickinson County Digital Archives. Here you are able to search over a hundred years of digitized newspapers of Dickinson County. Bring in good condition book(s), that you would recommend to a friend and swap for different books. This is a free come-and-go-event. On Tuesday, April 21, at 1:00 p.m., you are invited to join the Milford Memorial Library Book Club. This month, they will be discussing the murder mystery by Holly Jackson called Not Quite Dead Yet. Copies of this book can be found at Milford Memorial Library.
 
Make sure to stop at any of our participating host businesses to take home a free book from the Books in Businesses shelf. All books are free to take and the shelves will be restocked. This program was made possible through the Early Childhood Iowa Grant.  Thank you to our host businesses: Boji Ware Apparel and Gifts, Eckard Chiropractic, Hicks Family Healthcare, The Okoboji Cyclist, and Zen Salon.

Milford Memorial Library Book Club is on Tuesday, April 21, at 1:00 p.m. Discussing Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson. Jet is Twenty-seven years old, she’s still waiting for her life to begin. Until, on Halloween, Jet is attacked by an unseen intruder. She suffers a brain injury. The doctor is certain that within a week, she’ll suffer a deadly aneurysm. Join MML for All-Day Play on Monday, April 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Discover new toys while playing with friends during this free come-and-go playtime. All toys are provided by the library.
 
Fourth through twelfth graders, create your own dragon egg during MML’s Y.A. Maker Monday on Monday, April 6. Young Adults may come-and-go during this free activity.  All materials are provided by the library.
 
After-School Adventures is happening on Thursday, April 9, at 3:30 p.m. This month we will be creating a paint chip flower bookmark. A small snack will be provided during this free activity.
 
From 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, April 11, at Jones Dairy Farm (2680 250th Ave, Spencer, IA, 5130), join Books in the Barn for a morning of reading, playing, music, and crafts on the farm. Your family will get to meet milk cows, read to calves, and learn how milk gets from the farm to your table. Please dress for the weather. Program partners are: Milford Memorial Library, Dickinson County Farm Bureau, Clay/Buena Vista County Farm Bureau: Agriculture in the Classroom, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Jones Dairy, Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation, Kindermusik at the Lakes, Spencer Reads, and Western Iowa Dairy Alliance.

Milford Memorial Library’s Spring Coloring Contest ends on Saturday, March 28! Return completed coloring sheets to MML. Age groupings include ages 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-10 years old. A winner will be picked from each age group.
 
 
The hunt will be over on Saturday, March 28! Fourth graders through adults still have time to explore the Milford Memorial Library while trying to find twelve items.  Participants may pick up at Spring Egg Hunt sheet at MML’s front desk.  Turn in completed sheet to the front desk to be entered into a prize drawing. The Spring Hunt prizes are sponsored by the Friends of the Milford Library.
 
 
Tuesday, March 31, is the last day to complete MML’s Read Across America Bingo.  Fourth graders and under, may pick up an interactive bingo sheet at MML’s front desk. Two full Bingos in a row gets a small prize, and a completed bingo card equals a large prize drawing entry.

New books are springing up all over at Milford Memorial Library! Adults can enjoy new titles from Freida McFadden, C.J. Box, Lucy Score, and others. Snuggle up with new picture books like Goodnight, Bruce by Ryan T. Higgins, Pizzasaurus by Tammi Sauer, When Beavers Move In by Alison Pearce Stevens. Find a cozy spot and curl up with one of these kid’s chapter books: Minecraft: Adventure School by Monica Sanz, Magnitude by Jennifer A. Nielsen, or Nightmare on Nightmare Street by R.L. Stine. Young Adults stop in and pick up Stolen Midnights by Katherine Quinn, The Aftermyth by Tracy Wolff, and Paradise Coast by Suzanne Young.

Join the Lakes Area Libraries for a night of music from Classical Guitarist Peter Fletcher on Monday, March 16, at 6:30 p.m., in the Milford Community Center. Peter will be preforming music from his new album, In Concert, along with music from Russian composer, Nikita Koshkin, Spanish composer Isaac Albeniz, and more. In 2027, Peter will be returning to Carnegie Hall. This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Milford Library, Arnolds Park Public Library, and the Spirit Lake Public Library.
 
On Monday, March 16, fourth through twelfth graders are invited to MML’s Y.A. Maker Monday! This month, they will be creating their own button.
