Saturday, February 28, is the last day of Milford Memorial Library’s Blind Date with a Book. Take a chance on a book only from the genre and a few descriptive words. It could be a diamond in the rough or a complete dud. Simply return the book to MML, along with the provided bookmark. The completed bookmark will be placed into a prize drawing. The prize is basket full of goodies. One basket for adults and one for children. Thank you to the Friends of the Milford Library for sponsoring Blind Date with a Book prizes.

New titles have been springing up at Milford Memorial Library. In children’s fiction, we have new books from Daniel Tiger to Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Letters. Children’s chapter book readers will enjoy the newest I Survived, Owl Diaries, and Dragon Masters. Graphic novels include Wing It, Sidekicks: Thick as Thieves, and Geronimo Stilton Reporter: Starting Geronimo. In Young Adult, try Rocket Arm, Better Than the Movies, 16 Forever, and My Favorite Color is: Your Something Blue. Adults, we haven’t left you out. In adult fiction some titles we have added are The First Time I Saw Him, Where He Left Me, and The Merriest Crime of the Year. In adult non-fiction some titles MML has added are The Pioneer Woman Cooks: The Essential Recipes, The Gales of November: The Untold Story of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and Stop Letting Everything Effect You. There is still time to register for MML’s CrAFTER Hours on Wednesday, February 18, for French Pastry 101. From 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. we will be creating few different types of pastries. Cost is $5.00 and you can register by calling Milford Memorial Library at (712)338-4643 or online.
 
Milford Memorial Library Book Club will be meeting on Tuesday, February 17, at 1:00 p.m. This month, they will be discussing Once There Were Wolves by Charlotte McConaghy. Any interested individuals may pick up at copy at Milford Memorial Library. It is not necessary to attend all of the book meetings, and you are welcome to come and go as you please.
 
No awkward or forced conversions during Milford Memorial Library’s Blind Date with a Book. All wrapped books will have just a few describing words and the genre. It could be your new favorite or a dud. You won’t know until you check it out. A bookmark is in each book. Return the completed bookmark to MML to be placed into a drawing. Drawing prizes are sponsored by the Friends of the Milford Library. Blind Date books are available for all age groups until Saturday, February 28.

Milford Memorial Library would like to announce that Hoopla is now available at MML! Hoopla will offer our patrons digital Ebooks, audiobooks, comics, movies, TV shows, and music. Patrons will be able to browse and borrow content immediately. It’s back! Join us on Tuesday, January 27, at 7:00 p.m. for Paint Night at the Library! Kris will lead us through how to create an acrylic painting. Cost for registration is $15. Mark your calendars for MML’s Blind Date with a Book. There will be no title. You will only know the book’s genre and a small description. Blind Date with a Book will be held from Monday, February 2, through Saturday, February 28. 
 
Find printable 2025 Form 1040 and other tax information on Milford Memorial Library’s website. In your web browser, you will type milford.lib.ia.us. and hit enter.  Once MML’s homepage is displayed, click “Tax Forms and Information” in the blue column on the left-hand side. Once this page is pulled up, links and information will be available for you to explore. You may print at home or at Milford Memorial Library. Printing your tax forms at MML will cost $0.10 per page for blank tax forms and $0.20 per page for filled-out forms.

On Wednesday, February 4, at 5:30 p.m., an open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will take place in the Milford Community Center. The agenda will be posted on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer their thoughts in order to make MML a better library.

On Monday, January 12, at 7:00 p.m., in the Milford Community Center, you are invited to an author book talk with New York Times author Nicole Baart. Nicole will discuss her newly released book titled Where He Left Me, she will answer audience questions, and sign books. Nicole’s novels range from romantic to suspenseful, but she is known for her artistic prose and finely drawn characters. Her stories celebrate the triumph of the human spirit and beauty in the midst of brokenness. This is a free event sponsored by the Friends of the Milford Memorial Library, Arnolds Park Public Library, and the Spirit Lake Public Library.
MML's Young Adult (4th-12th graders) Maker Monday, will be held on Monday, January 19, from 9:30 A.M. until 4:00 p.m. They will be creating a mini canvas snowman. This is a free come and go event. All materials will be provided by the library.
 
On Monday, January 19, from 11:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., join MML for All-Day Play. Discover new and exciting toys while having fun with friends. This is a come-and-go playtime. All toys are supplied by the library.
Any interested individuals are welcome to join the Milford Memorial Library Book Club on Tuesday, January 20, at 1:00 p.m. This month we will be discussing Lessons in Chemistry. You are not required to attend each meeting and may come and go as you please. 
Join us for MML’s CrAFTER Hours on Wednesday, January 21, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. This month we will be making a folded book gnome. We will have materials available. The cost is $5. Register now by calling MML at 338-4643.

Join MML for Fun Craft Fridays on December 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is a youth and young adult free come-and-go craft time. This week we will be craft a perler bead creation. This is a limited amount of supplies, so this will be a first come, first serve.

Milford Memorial Library would like to thank everyone who came out to create holiday memories during Holiday Fantasy. Seeing community members gathered doing crafts and spending time together is something we always enjoy. Santa was excited to hear so many Christmas wishes. Thank you to the Friends of the Milford Library for donating and serving the tasty holiday treats.
 
We would like to thank everyone who donated to the Holiday Fantasy “Fill the Cart” Food Drive for Dickinson County Upper Des Moines Food Pantry. Your donations will help fill their cupboards during the holiday and winter season.

Join MML for After-School Adventures on Thursday, December 11, at 3:30 p.m. We will be creating a Shrink-a-Dink ornament.  A small snack will be provided during this free activity. All materials will be provided by the library.
 
Milford Memorial Library’s CrAFTER Hours! Join us on Wednesday, December 17, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. for the mocktail class. This can also be taken as a kit. You will receive a commemorative glass, recipes and if you make it to the class some instruction and taste testing. Cost for registration is $5. Join us for MML's Book Club on Tuesday, December 16, at 1:00 p.m.! This month we are reading The Greatest Gift, which inspired the film It's a Wonderful Life. Don't worry we picked a quick read with all the events happening in December. We will have treats and a great discussion for this holiday read.
 
Need a document scanned, faxed, printed, or copied? MML can help you. Documents can be scanned to an email for free. Faxing costs $3.00 for the first 2 pages and then $0.50 for each additional page.  Printing and copying per page are $0.25 for black and white and $0.50 for color. You are able to send printing by email to [email protected]. MML does have the capability for you to print from your phone. Stop in and see us to try out this service.
