Friday, December 5, is the last day to set up a tree for the Festival of Trees. Judging will be on Saturday, December 6, during Holiday Fantasy.  Tree categories are the following: Best Business, Best Personal/ Family, Best Organization, Most Creative, and Librarian’s Choice. Starting Friday, November 21, “Fill the Cart” for Dickinson County Upper Des Moines Food Pantry will begin!  We are collecting non-perishable food items at Milford Memorial Library until Friday, December 13. Help us fill their cupboards.
 
On December 1, join MML for Y.A. Maker Monday! From 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Young Adults can create a 3D Paper lamp or lantern. All materials are provided for this free come-and-go activity.
 
Come and enjoy MML’s All-Day Play, on December 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Spend time with friends and playing with different toys during this come-and-go playtime. All materials are provided by the library.
 
Join Milford Memorial Library on Saturday, December 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., for our Holiday Open House during Milford’s Holiday Fantasy. Enjoy kid crafts (make and take or to go), visit with Santa, Festival of Tree voting, and treats provided by the Friends of the Milford Library.
 
Spend some quality time with family and friends by completing a puzzle from MML. You will find puzzle sizes ranging from 300 - 1,000 pieces. Stop in and take a look.

Okoboji Flooring and Furniture, Campus Women’s Club, and the Milford Memorial Library are partnering once again for the Milford Area Secret Santa program. This program is aimed to give underprivileged families a chance to celebrate the holidays without stressing about finances. Anyone can anonymously nominate families, who may need help buying their children presents. The deadline for nomination is November 17. Forms are online. Paper forms can be picked up and dropped off at the Milford Memorial Library.

It’s Milford Memorial Library’s All-Day Play on Monday, November 3! From 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., discover new and exciting toys while playing with friends. This is a free come-and-go playtime. All the toys are provided by the library.
On Monday, November 3, MML’s Y.A. Maker Monday will have supplies to make a mousetrap clip. Fourth through twelfth graders are invited to create this unique craft from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is a free come-and-go activity. 
An open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will take place on Wednesday, November 5, at 5:30 p.m., in the Milford Community Center. The agenda will be posted on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer thoughts in order to make MML a better library.

Week one of the Milford Memorial Library Duck Hunt is done. MML staff will be hiding ducks until Friday, October 24. But you can return or adopt a duck until Monday, October 27! Iowa storyteller Darrin Crow will bring Gothic horror master Edgar Allan Poe to life in "Morbid Curiosities– An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe" at Milford Memorial Library on Wednesday, October 29, at 6:30 p.m.
The master of Gothic horror comes from beyond the veil to talk with audiences about his life and share his best stories and poetry including “The Masque of the Red Death”, “The Raven” and “The Tell Tale Heart.” The performance also features one of Poe's comedies, "The Angel of the Odd," a cautionary tall tale about the dangers of too much drinking. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Milford Memorial Library, Friends of the Arnolds Park Library, and Friends of the Spirit Lake Public Library.
 
Beep, Beep, Beep, stop by MML and see the Jeeps! Susan Gray’s Jeep collectibles and memorabilia will be on exhibit during October and November.

Go on a Duck Hunt with Milford Memorial Library! Starting Monday, October 6, MML will be hiding rubber ducks around Milford for you to find and return to MML. Duck Hunting Rules are posted at Milford Memorial Library, on our website, and on our social media. Duck Hunt information will be released weekly on social media. If you find a duck, return the duck and their tag to Milford Memorial Library. You will be entered into a prize drawing. What happens if you fall in love with your duck? Return the duck and its tag to MML and ask for a personalized adoption certificate.  If you adopt a duck, you will not be entered into the drawing. Milford Memorial Library’s Duck Hunt will end on Friday, October 24. Ducks can be turned in until Monday, October 27. Ancestry-Library Edition is now available and Milford Memorial Library.  Ancestory.com is an international genealogy database, where you are able to find additional information, documentation, articles, and possible relatives. The Library Edition of Ancestory.com, does not allow you to save your work. In order to keep your information, you will have to download and print your findings each time. This is an in-library use only resource. The Ancestory.com Library Edition icon is located on our desktop patron computers.

On Monday, September 15, Milford Memorial Library has a variety of free come-and-go activities for kids and young adults. Starting at 11:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., kids can come discover new toys and play with friends at MML’s All-Day play.  Fourth through twelfth graders can bring their friends and create a washer necklace or bracelet from 9:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. All toys and materials will be provided by the library.

How does your plant collection grow? By joining MML’s CrAFTER Hours for a Plant Swap on Wednesday, September 17, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There is no registration and the cost is bringing a plant to swap.

On Thursday, September 18, at 10:00 a.m., Milford Memorial Library will be welcoming Cari from St. Croix for a How Can Hospice Help You program. She will explain what hospice is, what they do, and answer your questions. Cari will take this intimidating topic and make it a bit more calming. Coffee and Lisa’s Bake Shop cinnamon rolls will be provided for this free program.

You invited to come discuss The Many Lives of Mama Love by Lara Love Hardin with the Milford Memorial Library Book Club on Tuesday, September 16, at 1:00 p.m. It is not necessary to attend all of the book club meetings, and you are welcome to come and go as you please.

Paint Night at the Library is happening on Tuesday, September 23, at 7 p.m., at Milford Memorial Library. This month we are creating a seasonal interchangeable round door sign. The cost for this event is $35. Participants can register at Milford Memorial Library, Arnolds Park Library, or Spirit Lake Public Library.
