It is the last week for Read Across America Bingo at MML. Kids, fourth grade or younger, may pick up their bingo cards at MML’s front desk. Four Bingos in a row equals a small prize, and a completed bingo card equals a prize drawing entry. Monday, March 31, is the last day to turn in your bingo cards.
 
Milford Memorial Library’s Annual Spring Egg Hunt will begin on Monday, March 24. This event will have fourth graders through adults exploring MML while trying to find twelve items. Participants can pick up the Spring Egg Hunt Sheet at MML’s front desk. Turn in completed sheet to be entered into a prize drawing. The Spring Hunt prizes are sponsored by the Friends of the Milford Library. The hunt is over on Saturday, April 5.
 
Milford Memorial Library’s Spring Coloring Contest begins on Monday, March 24! You may pick up your coloring sheet at MML. Age groupings will include ages 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-10 years old. All completed papers need to be turned by Saturday, April 5.
 
Join us for Paint Night at the Library on Tuesday, March 25, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.! This month we will be at Arnolds Park Library and Kris will lead us through an acrylic painting. Cost for this project is $15 and we ask that participants pay prior to the class. Register by calling Milford Memorial Library, Arnolds Park Library, or Spirit Lake Library
 
Milford Memorial Library has Federal 1040 tax forms and the instruction booklets. The Federal 1040 forms are available in English, Spanish, and large print. MML is charging for copying and printing tax forms. Blank Tax forms cost $0.10 per page and filled out tax forms will cost $0.20 per page.  For additional tax information go to the MML website (www.milford.lib.ia.us).

Monday, March 17, is a day full of fun at MML! At 10:30 a.m., Building Bookworms will be reading about rainbows and creating rainbow sand bracelets. Following at 11:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., join MML’s for All-Day Play. This is a come-and-go playtime for kids to discover new and exciting toys, while having fun with friends. Fourth through twelfth graders, can enjoy Y.A. Maker Monday! This month they can create a beaded friendship bracelet. On Tuesday, March 18, at 1:00 p.m., any interested individuals are welcome to join the Milford Memorial Library Book Club to discuss A Tree Grows in Brooklynn by Betty Smith. Copies can be found at MML. It is not necessary to attend all of the meetings, and you are welcome to come and go as you please.

Milford Memorial Library’s After-School Adventures will be meeting on Thursday, March 13, at 3:30. We will be decorating wooden bird houses. A small snack is provided with this free activity. If you have any questions please call MML at (712) 338-4643 or by email [email protected].

On Monday March 17, from 11:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., join MML for All-Day Play. Discover new and exciting toys while having fun with friends. This is a come-and-go playtime. Fourth through twelfth graders are welcome to join MML’s Y.A. Maker Monday on March 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This is a free come-and-go program, where they will create beaded friendship bracelets. All supplies are provided by Milford Memorial Library.

During the month of March, kids in 4th grade and younger may take part in Read Across America Bingo.  At MML’s front desk, pick up your special bingo card with 25 interactive reading options. On Wednesday, March 5, at 5:30 p.m., an open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will take place in the Milford Community Center. The agenda will be posted on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer their thoughts in order to make MML a better library.

One week until MML's Blind Date with a Book ends! All ages are welcome to take a chance at finding a new favorite. You will find a bookmark located inside your book. Complete and return the bookmark to MML for a chance a winning a prize drawing. Last day is Friday, February 28. Thank you to the Friends of the Milford Library for sponsoring the prizes.
 
On Tuesday, February 18, at 1:00 p.m., join the Milford Memorial Library Book Club for a discussion about The Movement by Clara Bingham. Copies can be found at the Milford Memorial Library. It is not necessary to attend all of the book meetings, and you are welcome to come and go as you please.
 
Interested in local or family history? Milford Memorial Library has resources to help in your search. On our webpage, milford.lib.ia.us, under the “Use Our Library” and “Helpful Resources” tabs, you will find links to the Dickinson County News Digital Archives and the Dickinson County Cemetery Records. In MML’s Physical nonfiction section, you can locate books like The Family Tree Toolkit by Kenyatta D. Berry, The Everything Guide to Online Genealogy by Kimberly Powell, How to Do Everything – Genealogy by George G. Morgan, along with books on local history and school yearbooks. Some materials are for in-library use only.

Join us for a Charcuterie Class featuring Lakeside Charcuterie. This event will be on Wednesday, February 19, at 5:30 p.m., at the Milford Memorial Library. Cost for the class is $50 and you will get to take home your own charcuterie board. Please RSVP and pay by Monday, February 17, to ensure we have enough supplies for the class.
 
MML’s After-School Adventures will be making love bug stickers on Thursday, February 13, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30p.m. A small snack will be provided. This a free activity and all materials are provided by the library.
 
Milford Memorial Library’s Blind Date with a book will end on Friday, February 28! No titles will be displayed. You will know a few subjects and genre. It could be a diamond or a dud. You won’t know until you check it out.  A bookmark is located in each book. Return the completed bookmark to the library to be placed into a drawing. Drawing prizes are sponsored by the Friends of the Milford Library. Blind Date books are available for all age groups.

On Monday, February 10, come hang out at Milford Memorial Library. We have free activities for everyone! Young Adults (4th-12th graders) can make a Silly Love monster during Y.A. Maker Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This is a come-and-go activity. Building Bookworms Storytime will meet at 10:30 a.m., which will be followed by MML’s All-Day Play from 11:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.  All-Day Play is a come and go event. Mark your calendars for MML’s Blind Date with a Book. There will be no title. You will only know the book’s genre and a small description. Blind Date with a book will be held from Saturday, February 1, through Friday, February 28. 
 
It’s National Puzzle Day on Wednesday, January 29! Milford Memorial Library has a variety of adult puzzles available for check out. We have a variety of children’s puzzles available for in-library use like Bluey, Farm animals, and dinosaurs.
 
Find printable 2024 Form 1040 and other tax information on Milford Memorial Library’s website. In your web browser, you will type milford.lib.ia.us. and hit enter.  Once MML’s homepage is displayed, click “Tax Forms and Information” in the blue column on the left-hand side. Once this page is pulled up, links and information will be available for you to explore. You may print at home or at Milford Memorial Library. Printing your tax forms at MML will cost $0.10 per page for blank tax forms and $0.20 per page for filled-out forms.

Make an electronic To-Be Read list, with your library card on Milford Memorial Library’s online catalog. Go to MML’s website, (milford.lib.ia.us), click “Search Our Catalog” located in the blue column on the left-hand side.  Login with your library card and pin information. Once you find material you want to read, click to open up material details, and then “Bookmark this item” To check your To-Be-Read list, click “My Account”, followed by “Bookmarks”.  Your list of titles along with author, date bookmarked, and if MML has a copy and its availability will be displayed.  You may click on title to read synopsis. To remove a title, you click “Remove”.

Milford Memorial Library has a cozy spot waiting for you. Come and relax or check an item off your to-do list, while sitting in a comfy chair by our fireplace or at a table with extra space.  Bring the kids to play in the children’s area with toys, computers, crayons, and puzzles.
 
Patrons are able to use MML’s drive-up window for reserves, printing, and copying pick up. The window is open during operating hours.
