Milford Memorial Library will be closed on Wednesday, December 6, for Dickinson County Library Staff Development Day. We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday, December 7, at 9:30 a.m.
 
On Wednesday, December 6, at 5:30 p.m., an open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will take place in the Milford Community Center. The agenda will be posted on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer their thoughts in order to make MML a better library.
 
The Holiday Fantasy Food Drive is going on now! Help us fill the empty shopping cart located at Milford Memorial Library. We are collecting non-perishable food items for Dickinson County Upper Des Moines. Share what you can spare.
 
On Tuesday, December 19, at 1:00 p.m., MML’s Book Club will be meeting for discussion on the classic A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Any interested individuals are welcome to attend. It is not necessary to attend all of the book meetings, and you can come and go as you please.
 
Settle in and share time by completing a jigsaw puzzle from the Milford Memorial Library. MML has a variety of puzzles sizes ranging from 300 pieces to 1,000 pieces. Stop in and take a look at our puzzle binder and find one to enjoy.
 
Pick up your library materials from the comfort of your car with Milford Memorial Library’s drive-up window service. Place library materials on reserve by calling 712-338-4643, or by going to our online catalog, www.milford.lib.ia.us. The drive-up window is located on the east side of the library. Push the white call button and a library staff member will bring your materials.

Milford Memorial Library is excited to see everyone at the upcoming Holiday Fantasy from 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2. We will have treats, a visit from Santa, voting on the holiday trees, and a take or make craft for the kiddos. The December youth programming is ready to go for the families. Here are some events to keep in mind: Building Bookworms at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, December 4 (theme: Santa, craft: Santa belt bag), and December 18 (Kindermusik with Miss Allison). There will be one Minds in Motion at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 11. Lastly, we will have a matinee movie showing of The Bad Guys along with popcorn at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 14.

You are invited to Milford Memorial Library’s Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 2, from 9:30 a.m. to Noon. Join us for kid crafts (make and take or to go), Santa’s visit, Festival of Trees voting, and treats provided by the Friends of the Milford Library. We are looking forward to starting the holiday season with you!
 
Make MML merry and bright with decorating a tree for the Festival of Trees. You may bring in trees until Friday, December 1.  Judging will be on Saturday, December 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Categories are the following: Best Business, Best Personal/Family, Best Organization, Most Creative, and Librarian’s Choice. Join us on Tuesday, November 28, at 7:00 p.m., at the Arnolds Park Library, for a fun night of painting, fellowship, and snacks provided by the three local libraries. We will have a special guest teaching us how to paint with watercolors. All of the supplies will be provided by the libraries. There are only 30 spots available so pre-register at the Arnolds Park Public Library, Spirit Lake Public Library, or the Milford Memorial Library. The cost is $15 for registration. Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner

Happy Thanksgiving library friends and families! Milford Memorial Library will be closed from November 23-25, so make sure to have a pile of children’s books on hand for the kiddos. To wrap up this month, we have one last Building Bookworms (storytime) on Monday, November 27. The theme is foxes, and it starts at 10:30 a.m. Then before you know it, December is here. As always, we start the month off with Holiday Fantasy on Saturday, December 2. We have a lot going on that day, which includes a craft for make or take home. This month MML’s Adult Craft Series will have a special guest! Join Ann Williamsen for card making on Wednesday, November 15, at 5:00 p.m., and learn the art of making handcrafted paper cards. Participants will get the chance to work with the different tools Ann has and create their own card. Cost for this program is $5 and registration is required. Everyone is welcome to Community Connections on the third Thursday of each month at 10:30 a.m. Join us on Thursday, November 16, at 10:30 a.m., at the library. This month Gillian will be speaking about RAGBRAI. Community Connections is open to adults wanting to learn and socialize. Coffee and refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Milford Library. This is a free program and attendees are encouraged to socialize after presentations. Bring your questions!
 
Any fourth through twelfth graders looking to level up their game are invited to join Milford Memorial Library, Arnolds Park Library, and Exile Gaming for Young Adults’ Video Game Day will be on Monday, November 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Milford Memorial Library. Exile Gaming will be providing game consoles and multiplayer games. This is a free, come-and-go event with no registration required.
 
MML’s Young Adult Pumpkin Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge Box, is available Tuesday, November 14, through Tuesday, November 21. This is a free activity, but does require registration. Join MML's Book Club on Tuesday, November 21, at 1:00 p.m. The featured book, Beartown by Fredrik Backman, can be found in our library. It is not necessary to attend all of the meetings, and you are welcome to come and go as you please.
Start planning now for your entry into the Festival of Trees. Milford Memorial Library will be accepting trees from Friday, November 17, through Friday, December 1.

Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner

Milford Memorial Library is starting out November with lots of interactive programs. Afterschool Adventures (small group fun) will take place at 3:30 p.m. this Thursday, November 9. We will be making foil art which involves using string, foil, and markers to make something unique. Then we have two Building Bookworms (storytime) at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, November 13 and 27. The first one will focus on Splat the Cat (craft: painted shapes Splat), and the second one will focus on foxes (craft: yarn wrapped fox). Lastly, we have another Minds in Motion (sensory play) at 10:30 a.m. at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 20.
