Easter Contests for Preschool to 8th Grade

The Milford Library has two exciting contests running for Easter! Ages
Preschool through 4th Grade are invited to enter our coloring contest,
and 5th through 8th Grade can guess the number of jelly beans in a jar. Entry sheets for the coloring contest can be picked up at the library or printed off from the file below. Contest entries are due by April 12th.

Special Program: Hunger and Poverty in America/Dickinson County

Have you come into the Milford Library and noticed the Buy Rite shopping cart? We are collecting items for the Upper Des Moines food bank in anticipation of a Hunger and Poverty in America/Dickinson County program on Tuesday April 8th at 7pm.

Jim Ramsey from the Milford Memorial Library will begin with a presentation inspired by A Place at the Table, a documentary that looks at hunger and poverty across the United States. The DVD will be available for check out at the library after the program.

The second part of the program will be a presentation of hunger and poverty issues in our local area. Annette Eckert, the Outreach Director for Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc., will provide information about this hidden problem here where we live with some real life background and statistics.

The last part of the program will be open to discussion from the audience. This will be a great opportunity to learn about this painful but real situation and ways you might be able to help.

You probably know people that watch most of their TV over the internet. Have you been wanting to learn more about it? Special Guest Presenter Jeff Cookinham will be here to answer any questions you have on Wednesday, April 2nd from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
