Join Kevin Spire for a beginning genealogy class in the Milford Community Center on Friday, March 11, from 1-3 p.m. This class will cover organizing your information—forms, charts, physical storage of papers and give an overview of different software programs. Learn how to evaluate sources and learn about the pitfalls of relying on other’s research, both online and in books. Explore genealogy websites and work through some basic building blocks of genealogy, including your personal family items and census records. Attendees are encouraged to bring birth and death dates and locations for their grandparents or great grandparents so we can try to locate more information about them. When the class is done, everyone should have a good idea on how to start, where to go for more information and how much fun family research can be.
March 4 through March 19 is our coloring contest for preschool through 4th grade. All coloring pages will be put on the library windows. Each winner will receive an Easter basket. Coloring pages can be picked up at the front desk of the library.
Milford Memorial Library has put a new spin on the spring egg hunt. We have taken 12 pictures of items around the library and your job is to find out where and what these items are. You will receive a piece of paper from the front desk that has 12 pictures in eggs. Find and write down where all 12 images came from and turn your sheet in. Anyone can participate and the spring egg hunt ends Friday, March 19. We will draw for a prize on March 21.
If you are in preschool through 4th grade and need something to do after school on Thursday, March 10, stop by the library. Join Betty Naab, our children’s librarian, as she hosts the after school craft party. The theme for this month is “Read Across America.”
Join us for great stories and much more every Friday morning at 10:00! Betty, our children's librarian, looks forward to sharing stories with you! No pre-registration is necessary. The theme this week is “Dr. Seuss.”
An open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will be held this Wednesday, March 2, at 5:30 p.m. A free computer class will be led by Jeff Cookinham after the meeting.
