An open meeting of the Board of Trustees for Milford Memorial Library is at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, in the Milford Community Center. The agenda will be on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. The public is welcome to join.
  
Fourth through Twelfth Graders may pick up MML’s Subscription Box: The Root of Gratitude on Monday November 9, through Tuesday, November 24. The box contains a succulent project, playlist, reading list, to-be Watched list, recipe, and other grateful activities. This is a free program, but registration is required. Participants may pick up the box at the Milford Memorial Library.

New this year! The Milford Memorial Library is hosting the Festival of Wreaths for Milford’s Holiday Fantasy. Wreaths can be brought into the library Monday, November 16, - Wednesday, November 25. The Festival of Wreaths voting will be Monday, November 30, - Friday, December 4. The awards this year are for best personal/family wreath, best organization wreath, best business wreath, most creative, and librarian's choice. Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner
 
Milford Memorial Library and Miss Becca has your family covered during November.  The first Grab and Go Bag and Books went out this week.  The theme is scarecrows, and it will be available until November 13.  The second Bags and Books will be on Mo Willem’s pigeon, and it will be available from November 16-30.  These 30 bags go out quickly, so feel free to reserve them ahead of time by calling or emailing Miss Becca (338-4643, [email protected]).  Depending on the weather, the last youth program for November will be Afterschool Sidewalk Shenanigans at 3:30 P.M. on Thursday, November 12.  The craft will be a painted paper plate turkey, and if it has to be cancelled, Miss Becca can have the craft ready for pick up that day if you call ahead.

Join us on Tuesday, October 27, for a Paint by Number Night! Contact the library at (712) 338-4643 to pre-register and the cost is $5. Pick up your Paint by Number kit on Friday, October 23, Monday, October 26, or Tuesday, October 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and pay when you pick up your kit. All kits include an 8 x 10 numbered canvas, paint, paint brush, and instructions. You can do this kit on your own and a special video link will be provided for visual instructions. Milford Memorial Library and Miss Becca have another set of Grab and Go Bags and Books for October.  The theme is pumpkins with the craft being a popsicle pumpkin.  Of course, there will be plenty of extra connections in the bag for the kiddos.  There will be 30 bags available out front and the Drive-up Window from October 19-30.  The last program for this month will be Trick or Treat with MML from 3:30-5:00 P.M. on Friday, October 30.  Miss Becca will be outside waiting to safely see everyone in their costumes.

The library is now open to the public from 10:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M., Monday-Friday.  The Youth Area has some great book displays, and they include books on Halloween, orange and black, fire safety, football, and the human body.  Feel free to stop by MML or let Miss Becca know if you would like some of these books to take home.

There are still plenty of Grab and Go Bags and Books on the theme of leaves at Milford Memorial Library.  This bag is complete with a paper leaf wreath craft, coloring sheets, and extra connections.  It will be available until Friday, October 16.  The next round of Grab and Go Bags and Books will be about pumpkins, and it will run from October 19-30.  Also, start getting your Halloween costumes ready for Trick or Treat with MML on Friday, October 30, from 3:30-5:00 P.M.

Milford Memorial Library News

The Milford Memorial Library has new carpet and everything is back in its place. Thank you to the Milford Memorial Library Board, Library Staff, City of Milford, Milford City Council, Milford Public Works Department, Okoboji Flooring and Furniture, Library Furniture International, and to all of you for taking care of the library! Many hours of hard work went into this project and we could not have done it without the support we received. We hope to open soon so everyone can see the new carpet in person!

Milford Memorial Library has some awesome opportunities for kiddos this October.  There will be two themed Grab and Go Bags and Books.  One will focus on leaves (October 5-16) and the other one will focus on pumpkins (October 19-30).  There will be 30 bags so make sure to grab a few out front on Mondays and the Drive-up Window the rest of the week.  Afterschool Sidewalk Shenanigans: Halloween BINGO will be at 3:30 P.M. on Thursday, October 8, in the east library parking lot.  Come play the lovable game, win prizes, and safely spread out from one another.  Lastly, MML and The Grove will be partnering for their Fall Festival on October 10.  Miss Becca will be there reading stories, doing some movement songs/poems, handing out baby pumpkins, and assisting any families with other events at The Grove.

The Milford Memorial Library will be closed to walk-in traffic a little while longer. The library staff and board have been working on getting new carpet for the library! This week the second half of the library will get carpet. If you peak into the library you may get to see a glimpse of the new carpet. Since this is a very large job we don’t plan on opening until after it is completed. We will still have our drive-up window available during this project.

Oh snap! Registration for MML’s Young Adult Subscription Box- Back to the 90’s is open! This box will be all that and a bag of chips with stellar activities and crafts. It will also include da’ bomb recommendations for 90’s movies, TV shows, books, and a 90’s playlist that will have you gettin’ jiggy with it. But wait there’s more, a 90’s inspired recipe your mama will love is also included. As if you’d want to miss out, call and pre-register. All materials are provided by the library. October is right around the corner, and Milford Memorial Library is still busy planning programs for the kiddos. There will be two opportunities for Grab and Go Bags and Books.  The first one will run from October 5-16, and the theme will be leaves.  The second one will run from October 19-30, and the theme will be pumpkins.  Since the bags were so popular last round, Miss Becca will make 30 of them.  Also, there will be another Afterschool Sidewalk Shenanigans at 3:30 P.M. on Thursday, October 8.  We will be playing Halloween BINGO outside in the east parking lot.
