A huge thank you to our book sale volunteers. The success of the Friends of the Milford Memorial Library’s Book Sale is due to your dedication and efforts.  We are grateful to our amazing volunteers spending their time organizing, moving, and selling the collected materials. The Milford Memorial Library and the Friends of the Milford Memorial Library appreciates all the work put into the book sale and we are looking forward to seeing everyone next year.
 
Friday, August 5, is the last day to turn in reading logs for all Milford Memorial Library Summer Reading Programs. Keep reading, we know you can reach your goals.
 
On Wednesday, August 3, an open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will take place in the Milford Community Center. The agenda will be posted on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer their thoughts in order to make MML a better library.
 
Playaways can add to your summer fun. This all-in-one audiobook is able to be plugged-in with headphones or into a car’s auxiliary (AUX) with an auxiliary cord. They fit into your pocket and are easily transportable. Playaways are powered by a single AAA battery.  Milford Memorial Library has a variety of titles for all ages and interests. Stop by for a visit and talk with a librarian about this new audiobook technology.
 
Milford Memorial Library can help with your printing, copying, faxing, and scanning needs. Printing and copying is $0.25 for black and white per side and $0.50 for color per side. The Friends of the Milford Memorial Library Foundation Book Sale will be held in the East Community Center Room.              
Hours are the following:
Thursday, July 21, from 2:00 p.m. -5:00p.m.
Friday, July 22, from 9:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 23, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The book sale offers a variety of items for all individuals at great prices. All of the proceeds go to the Friends of the Milford Memorial Library. This group is a non-profit organization that helps support the Milford Memorial Library through volunteering and financial assistance. Join other volunteers and the library staff for book sale set-up beginning at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 21, with pizza and a potluck to follow. Once everything is in place, let the shopping begin. Volunteers will get to shop early. Please let the library know if you plan to volunteer.
 
The Friends of the Milford Library are still in need of volunteers to work the book sale on Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23. Milford Memorial Library has hot spots available for a 7 day check out period. One seven-day renewal is allowed. Overdue Hotspots will be charged $1.00 per day. Patrons will be held responsible for all applicable replacement costs and processing fees up to $150.00 for the hotspot and/or accessories lost, stolen, or damaged while in their possession.  Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner

Read with Miss Becca will run from August 1-15, at the Milford Memorial Library. Parents should set up a day and time with her for a casual, individual reading session with their kiddo/s. Youth are welcome to bring a book/s from home, or s/he can pick some out at the library. This program is a great way to jump start those literacy skills before school rolls around later in the month. Please contact Miss Becca at 712-338-4643 or [email protected]. Also a friendly reminder to everyone that MML’s Youth Reading-Activity Logs are due by 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 5. The kiddo/s need to complete all three levels on their log with the offered summer options. Grab a log at the library or on the Youth Summer Reading webpage.

On Tuesday, June 19, at 1:00 p.m., join MML’s Open Book Discussion Group to discuss the featured book Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. Copies can be found at the library. It is not necessary to attend all of the meetings, and you are welcome to come and go as you please.
 
Join MML for our Adult Craft Series as we make wind chimes on Wednesday, July 20, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Milford Memorial Library. This craft also comes in kit form. The cost for this craft is $5.00 and registration is required. Join us on Tuesday, July 19, at 7:00 p.m., at the Milford Memorial Library, for a fun night of painting provided by the three local libraries. All of the supplies will be provided by the libraries. We will have an open paint night with materials from past paint nights. If you missed one recently now is your chance. Pre-register at the Arnolds Park Public Library, Spirit Lake Public Library, or the Milford Memorial Library. The cost is $10 for registration. The Read Beyond the Beaten Path Summer Reading Program has one more family outing at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, at the Dickinson County Nature Center. This will be a relaxed evening in order to recognize all of the hard work and time everyone put in during June and July. We will have a storybook walk, songs from the Antoines, and s’mores by the fire.

​ MML’s Youth Reading-Activity Logs are due on Friday, August 5, so keep plugging away at the different options. After this date, Miss Becca will have the camping prize bags ready for pick up, as well as she will announce the winners for the large prizes. If you need a ReadingActivity Log, stop by our library or print it off from MML’s Youth Summer Reading webpage (SRP tab located on the left side).

Milford Memorial Library is accepting books the Friends of Milford Library Foundation’s Book Sale. You may drop off books during normal business hours. Join us at the Milford Memorial Library for Past Times presented by Mary Drier from the Dickinson County Museum on Tuesday, July 12, at 7 p.m. Mary will be leading us through a discussion about Milford’s history.
