Milford Memorial Library will be closed on Saturday, December 24, through Monday, December 26, in observance of the Christmas Holiday. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, when we reopen.
 
Join the MML’s Book Club on Tuesday, December 20, at 1:00 p.m. They will be discussing The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. Copies of can be found in our library. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. It is not necessary to attend all of the meetings, and you are welcome to come and go as you please.
Young Adults, fourth through twelfth graders, are invited to Y.A.D.O (Young Adults’ Day Off) with MML and Arnold Park Library, on Friday, December 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  They will be creating a D.I.Y Dry Erase Calendar, watching Uncharted, playing games, and eating lunch. This activity costs $5.00 and requires registration. To register call Milford Memorial Library at 712-338-4643 or Arnolds Park Public Library at 712-332-2033.

Need a document scanned, faxed, printed, or copied? MML can help you.  Documents can be scanned to an email for free. Faxing costs $3.00 for the first 2 pages and then $0.50 for each additional page.  Printing and copying per page are $0.25 for black and white and $0.50 for color. You are able to send printing by email to [email protected]. MML does have the capability for you to print from your phone. Stop in and see us to try out this service.

Milford Memorial Library’s drive-up window is available for patrons to pick up their reserved materials or emailed printing.  To make reserves, you may call the library, 712-338-4643, email [email protected], or go to online catalog at www.milford.lib.ia.us.

The Library will also be closed Saturday, December 31, through Monday, January 2, in observance of the New Year’s Holiday. We look serving you in the new year, beginning on Tuesday, January 3, at 9:30 a.m.  Have a safe and happy New Year’s Holiday.

Need a gift for the holidays? MML's Adult Craft Series will be a kit clean out. Choose from a fabric pumpkin, clay jewelry, wood wick flower candle, popsicle painting, egg painting, or string art. The cost for each craft is $5.00 and registration is required. You can register by contacting the Milford Memorial Library.

You will be creating a lath star with a coffee stain, a cardboard snowflake, and a paintbrush gnome. The shop will close on Friday, December 23. Youth Corner Miss Becca at Milford Memorial Library has a lot of programs planned for the kiddos throughout the next couple of months. In January, there will be two Building Bookworms at 10:30 a.m. at the library. The first storytime is on Monday, January 9 (theme: snow - craft: paper plate snow globe), and the second one is on Monday, January 16 (theme: pets - dog/cat headband). Afterschool Activity will be at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, with the craft being a stone snowman. If you would like to know more about all of MML’s programs, please call the library and ask to be placed on their newsletter list. You can also email Miss Becca at [email protected] for anything related to the youth programs.

This week’s library feature is all of the beautiful, holiday trees spread around the youth area. Plus, those trees look extra special with their lights during the darker hours. Stop by Milford Memorial Library to see the eight trees, and then pick out some holiday books to read and snuggle with your kiddos.

Wednesday, December 14, is Open Craft Night! This Adult Craft Night will be a kit only event. Participants will be able to sign-up for available crafts including a Fabric Pumpkin, Clay Jewelry, Halloween Wood Décor, Wood Wick Candle, String Art, and serval painting kits. We have a limited number of kits available, so register soon. The cost is $5.00 per kit and registration is required. Create simple homemade gifts with MML’s Young Adult Subscription Box: The Holiday Gift Shop. Milford Memorial Library is collecting non-perishable food items for the Dickinson County Upper Des Moines Food Pantry until Friday, December 16.  Let’s help stock their shelves!
 
During this busy time of year, take some time to breathe and relax with materials from the Milford Memorial Library.  Stay cozy with a book or audiobook that eases your mind, a movie that transports, or a puzzle or cake pan that creates a memory. Stop in to MML and see what catches your eye.
 
We understand it is cold, windy, and icy. But you can still receive library materials. Patrons may pick up reserved materials through our drive-up window on the east side of the building.  The window is open during operating hours. To reserve materials patrons may go onto our online catalog through MML’s website or you may call 712-338-4643 to place your reservation.  When you pull up there is a white call button located in the front. If you are not able to reach the button, you may call the phone number provided.

Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner

Milford Memorial Library will have Afterschool Activity at 3:30 p.m. this coming Thursday, December 8. The activity will be a life-sized gingerbread person. This entails the kiddos tracing and decorating an outline of their body to look like a gingerbread person.

Also before the holidays, Miss Becca will have one more Building Bookworms. This storytime is at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 19. The books, movement, and craft (spiral sledding mobile) is all about snow and sledding.

This week’s library feature is the creativity table in the youth area. This is a great spot for everyone to use their imagination with a variety of coloring utensils and coloring/activity sheets. The sheets get changed a couple of times each month.
