      On Wednesday, August 4, an open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will take place in the Milford Community Center. The agenda will be posted on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer their thoughts in order to make MML a better library.
 
Milford Memorial Library and the Friends of the Milford Library Foundation would like to thank everyone who came out and supported the book sale. The money raised will be used to help with special library programming and special projects.  Just a reminder, if you won an auction painting, you may pick it up and pay at the library during operating hours.  Thank you again for your support.
 
MML can help you with your printing and copying needs. Bring in your materials or email us at [email protected]. Picking up your printing and copies can be done during the drive-up hours. Normal printing/copying prices apply ($0.25 for black and white per page and $0.50 for color per page).  Faxing services are available also.  Costs for faxing are $3.00 for the first two pages and $0.50 for every page after.  MML also offers scanning to email. This service is free of charge.
  
Check out MML’s drive-up window hours! Reserves may be picked-up on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Wednesdays 9:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. You may reserve materials by using MML’s online catalog, calling (712)338-4643, or emailing [email protected]. Our drive-up window is located on the east side (closest to Highway 71) right before our drop box.

Milford Memorial Library has two programs for the kiddos in August.  The first program will be an outside storytime at the Okoboji Blue Water Festival.  It will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021, under the big tent in the Arnolds Park Preservation Plaza.  The second program will be a special storytime with the current Miss Iowa 2021, Ms. Grace Keller.  It will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021, in the Milford Community Room.  There is no pre-registration or cost to join these programs, and all of the materials and services are provided by the library.

A huge thank you to our book sale volunteers. The success of the Friends of the Milford Memorial Library’s Book Sale is due to your dedication and efforts.  We are grateful to our amazing volunteers spending their time organizing, moving, and selling the collected materials. The Milford Memorial Library and the Friends of the Milford Memorial Library appreciates all the work put into the book sale and we are looking forward to seeing everyone next year.

Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner
 
August will soon be here, and Milford Memorial Library has two programs for the kiddos. The first program will be an outside storytime at the Okoboji Blue Water Festival. It will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021, under the big tent in the Arnolds Park Preservation Plaza.  Miss Becca will highlight the theme of the environment and clean water through stories, songs/rhymes, and a cute fish windsock craft. 

The second program will be a special storytime with the current Miss Iowa 2021, Ms. Grace Keller.  It will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021, in the Milford Community Room. She will include a read aloud, a creative writing component, and time to ask her questions and take pictures.  There is no pre-registration or cost to join these programs, and all of the materials and services are provided by the library.

Please join other volunteers and the library staff for book sale set up beginning at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 22., with a potluck to follow. Once everything is in place, let the shopping begin. Volunteers are needed to work at The Friends of the Milford Memorial Library Book Sale on Friday, July 23 and Saturday, July 24. Shifts are in two-hour increments starting at 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, and from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 24. Some extra help will be needed after the book sale on Saturday to clean up. If interested or for more information, contact MML at 712-338-4643 or [email protected].
 
The Friends of the Milford Memorial Library Book Sale will be held in the East Community Center Room.  Hours are the following:

Thursday, July 22 from 2:00 p.m. -5:00p.m.
Friday, July 23 from 9:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 24 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

The Book Sale offers a variety of items for all individuals at great prices. All of the proceeds go to the Friends of the Milford Memorial Library. This group is a non-profit organization that helps support the Milford Memorial Library through volunteering and financial assistance. MML’s photo booth will be out at Florence Park on Friday, July 23, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Come capture crazy-fun memories of the 2021 Milford Pioneer Days. This activity is open to everyone, and there will be props for you to use in your pictures. A free will donation will be accepted that day.
 
Join others Tuesday, July 27, at 7:00 p.m., at the Arnolds Park Library, for a fun night of painting, fellowship, and snacks provided by the three local libraries. Any skill level is invited to recreate a painting following step-by-step instructions from the original artist. All of the supplies will be provided by the libraries. There are only 30 spots available so pre-register at the Arnolds Park Public Library, Spirit Lake Public Library, or the Milford Memorial Library. The cost is $10.00 for early registration and $15 for registration on the day of the event. Registrants will need to pay prior to the event to secure their spot. Starting Monday, July 19, MML will be accepting book donations for the Friends of Milford Memorial Library Book Sale. This is due to running out of storage space for donations.  As a reminder, we do not accept Reader’s Digest Condensed novels, magazines, textbooks, and encyclopedias. Milford Memorial Library’s Adult Craft series is a lake inspired Epoxy Wood Tray.  The kit contains wood, epoxy, color, rubber gloves, and instructions. This craft does require pre-registration and the cost of $5.00. Participants can pick up their kit at the library Monday, July 19, Tuesday, July 20, and Wednesday, July 21. The Young Adult Summer Reading Program Subscription Box:  Color Outside the Lines, is inspired by people who dared to be different. They were able to shift other’s perspectives with ideas and activities. This box’s watch list and reading lists are collections of true legends and materials which pushed the envelope. The playlist is a combination of songs that influenced the world, original recordings, cover songs, and songs about influential people. A recipe for the first modern-day foodie craze can be found inside too.  The projects in this box will have you discovering new ways of using everyday objects, creating an art, and taking part in saying thank you. Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner
 
This will be the last week of the Youth Summer Reading Program at Milford Memorial Library.  Please join us for some summer fun!  On Tuesday, July 13, our Facebook Fun will entail telling us your favorite place to go or somewhere you would like to travel if given the chance.  On Wednesday, July 14, at 10:00 a.m., Sidewalk Shenanigans will be making mini succulent planters.  This will take place in MML’s east parking lot.  Lastly, on Thursday, July 15, at 10:00 a.m., we will have the End Celebration at Florence Park.  This will involve socially safe fun including a magician, pizza, and a color bash!  Please wear clothes that can get messy
