Did you know we have a public display case in our north entryway? Every month we highlight collections by an individual or group.  If you would like to display a collection in our case contact the library. We are looking for anyone with a collection, even teens and children. The case has locking glass doors and we will design a sign about the contents of the case and who provided the collection. Some of the collections in our case from this past year include, "Mother in the Kitchen" or "Prayer Lady" a collection by Joanne Palmer, a collection of antique books from Janet Whitney, and "When the Good Guys Really Were Good Guys and We Wanted to Be Like Them” by Gary Lambert.

This is the last week for our blind date with a book program. Make sure to get us your bookmarks by the end of the week. The drawing for our prize basket will take place Monday, March 2, and the winner will be called at the phone number they leave on the bookmark. Even if you are not done reading the book bring your bookmark in so you can be entered in our drawing.

Children of all ages are invited to come to the Milford Library for World Read Aloud Day next Wednesday, March 4, after school. This event reminds us that the right to read belongs to all people and motivates children, teens, and adults to celebrate the power of words. Join us at the library for a short time to read to each other and snacks.

                Everyone is invited to join us for public storytime this Friday, February 27, at 10 a.m., for stories about “Feeding the Birds.” Come for a fun time of stories and coloring. 

Did you know we have over 90 magazine subscriptions? Our top six magazines are People, The Week, Real Simple, Time, National Geographic, and Martha Stewart Living. Stop by and check out the rest of our magazines in the front of our library.

Our Blind Date with a Book program is going on all of February. So take a chance on a book! If you don’t like the book you pick it is always returnable. When you finish the book fill out the bookmark located inside the front cover and submit the bookmark to the library for a chance to win a great basket full of prizes. Our drawing will take place on March 2.

Tuesday, February 17, at 1:00 p.m., our Open Book Discussion Group will be meeting in the library to talk about The Silkworm. This story is about a novelist that goes missing and there is more to his disappearance than his wife realizes. Open Book Discussion Group meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month. Join us every Friday at 10 a.m. for public storytime. This Friday, February 20, at 10 a.m. we will be reading “Dinosaur Stories.” Come for fun stories and coloring. 

Do you love the Milford Library? If you answered yes and are between the grades of pre-school and 4th grade join us this Thursday, February 12, for our after school craft party. Betty Naab, our children’s librarian, will have a book talk, snacks, and an “I Love My Library” project.

All young adults 5th grade – 12th grade are invited to come to the Milford Library on Wednesday, February 11, at 2:00 p.m., to take on the challenge of the Cupcake WARS! Create a cupcake creation inspired by a book and be judged by your peers. All supplies will be provided by the library.

Thursday, February 12, at 10 a.m., we will be looking for our Shelf Elves. Volunteers take on the task of organizing and cleaning a section of shelves. This helps our librarians and it will make sure you can find the book you are looking for that might have otherwise been misplaced.

This Friday, February 13, at 10 a.m., we will have public storytime. We will be pondering the question of “How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You?” Come to the library for a fun story and coloring sheet.

We will be closed Monday, February 16, in observance of Presidents’ Day.

Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy. I have no cover, so read me maybe? There will be no awkward questions, no forced conversation, no judgmental looks, no need to call. Just have a blind date with a book! All of February you can have a blind date with a book. Books from an assortment of genres, departments, fiction and non-fiction will be wrapped in brown paper. Sure, it might turn out to be a dud, or it could be the diamond in the rough you wouldn't have given a chance otherwise.
