The Spring Egg Hunt is going on now at MML! Fourth graders and up may pick up an egg sheet that has 12 pictures in eggs. Each participant will need to find the objects on the paper, write down what each object is and where it is located. They will then bring the completed sheet to the circulation desk and their name will be entered into a drawing. The hunt ends on Friday, April 7. Thank you to the Friends of the Milford Library for providing the prize.
 
We are in the final days of MML’s Young Adult March Madness Box. Fourth through twelfth graders have until Friday, March 24, to register for this free activity. Materials for creating an origami table basketball court, a D.I.Y. dry-erase March Madness bingo card, and an indoor basketball hoop.  Register by calling 712-338-4643 or online at http://milfordlibrary.weebly.com/young-adult-registration.html.
 
On Wednesday, April 5, at 5:30 p.m., an open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will take place in the Milford Community Center. The agenda will be posted on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer their thoughts in order to make MML a better library.
 
Have you checked out Bridges? Bridges is the State of Iowa’s Electronic Library. If you have a valid MML library card and the Libby by Overdrive app, you have access to downloadable children, young adult, and adult eBooks and audiobooks. The end of tax season is right around the corner. Milford Memorial Library has copies of the Iowa and Federal 1040 forms and instructions. We also check out, milfordlibrary.weebly.com/tax-forms-and-information.html , for helpful websites and printable tax forms.
 
Start planning your outdoor activities at MML.  Our magazine collection has great titles such as: The Family Handyman, Mother Earth News, and Do-It-Yourself Magazine. Browse our non-fiction section for  how to build a play set, landscape planning and planting, backpacking, camping, and other outdoor activities you might enjoy. 

Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner
Milford Memorial Library has one last friendly reminder for the grown-ups to please encourage their kiddo/s to complete their Read Across America BINGO card by this Friday, March 31. We have lots of cool prizes for two completed BINGOs, as well as a completed card can enter your kiddo/s into a large prize drawing.
The Spring Coloring Contest has begun, and coloring sheets can be found on MML’s Youth webpage or at our library. The turnaround is quick with all sheets due by Friday, April 7.
Lastly, please join us in April for a variety of youth programs including Building Bookworms at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, April 3 and 10 (Birds, Rainbows), Afterschool Activity at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 (Earth Day Dirt Cups), and Minds in Motion at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18.

Paint Night at the Library is on Tuesday, March 28, at 7:00 p.m., at the Arnolds Park Library. This month we will be painting a bunny on canvas. All of the supplies will be provided by the libraries. There are only 30 spots available so pre-register at the Arnolds Park Public Library, Spirit Lake Public Library, or the Milford Memorial Library. The cost is $15 for registration. Friday, March 24, is the final day of MML’s Young Adult (4th-12th Graders) March Madness Challenge Box. This box is a slam dunk with a variety of basketball themed projects and activities.  This is a free program, but it does require registration. Milford Memorial Library provides a variety of magazines.  For the cooks, we recommend The Food Network Magazine, Taste of Home, and Bon Appetit.  If you like working on projects, Do It Yourself Magazine, The Family Handyman.  For current events and product safety check out The Week, Time, and Consumer Reports.  We also have the popular titles such as: People, Saturday Evening Post, and Better Homes and Gardens. Patrons are able to check out the most current issue.
 
Planning a weekend trip or a long vacation, Milford Memorial Library has free maps to help you plan.  Maps of Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, are located on the bottom of the tall magazine shelf. You have any questions, please ask a librarian.

Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner

Milford Memorial Library’s Read Across America BINGO is due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31. Kiddos need to complete two BINGOs in order to receive a small prize, and we encourage them to finish the entire card for a large prize drawing entry. So hurry, hurry, hurry, there’s only a week and a half left to finish your reading activities.

MML will also have their annual Spring Coloring Contest starting on Monday, March 27. Coloring sheets can be found on MML’s Youth webpage or at our library. Age groupings will include 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-10 years old. All completed papers need to be returned by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7.

You are invited to Community Connections the third Thursday of each month at 10:30 a.m. The program is open to adults wanting to learn and socialize. Coffee and refreshments are provided. Join us Thursday, March 16, at 10:30 a.m., at the library. We will be learning about beekeeping from the Northwest Iowa Beekeepers Club. This is a free program and attendees are encouraged to socialize after presentations. Bring your questions!
Join MML’s Open Book Discussion Group on Tuesday, March 21, at 1:00 p.m., as they discuss The Printed Letter Bookshop by Katherine Reay. Extra copies are available at the library. Attendance is not necessary for all meetings. Readers are welcome to come and go as they please.

Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner

Join Milford Memorial Library for our annual Read Across America BINGO program. All your family needs to do is either stop by our library, or go to the Youth webpage to grab the BINGO card (milford.lib.ia.us/youth). Then have the kiddos get to work by filling in the reading squares in order to earn a small prize and/or a prize drawing entry. This program runs from March 1-31.

We also have something new for the littles who aren’t quite ready for school. It is called Minds in Motion, and it is a sensory based program with no instruction. Instead, there are different options for the kiddos to explore and learn with their bodies. The first program is at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21.

An all ages Pokemon Trading and Collecting will be on Wednesday, March 15, from 3:00p.m.-5:00p.m. We will be joined by Ryan Schmidt from Okoboji Sports and Collectibles, who will have information about playing and collecting. You are welcome to bring your own cards to trade. This is a free event and registration is not required.

Milford Memorial Library and Arnolds Park Library invite fourth through twelfth graders to Y.A.D.O., Young Adults’ Day Off, on Monday, March 13, from 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. We will be having pizza, playing various types of games, watching McFarland, USA.
