MML’s Spring Egg Hunt will have you exploring the town of Milford. This free adventure is for 4th graders and up. Adults this means you can join in the fun too! Stop by the library to get your Spring Egg Hunt sheet featuring 10 different images and QR codes that will showcase parts of our town. Once you locate the image, write down what it is and where you found it. Scan the QR code for a little history about your location. Then turn your completed sheet to the Milford Memorial Library for a chance to win a prize. The hunt is over on Monday, March 22 at 5:00 p.m.
 
Take me out to the ball game with MML’s Young Adult Subscription Box: Opening Day. This season will run from Tuesday, March 9 to Tuesday, March 30.  The power hitting activities are creating your own coffee ground wood stain and hitting and threading together a string art baseball.  Your ballpark experience will be assisted a playlist, reading list, to-watch list, and recipes. Admission is free, but registration is required. To play ball, call the Milford Memorial Library “ticket office” at 712-338-4643 or email [email protected]. You can pick-up your box at MML’s drive-up window during normal hours.

            Milford Memorial Library is now open by appointment! Same-day appointments are to be made by calling the library at 712-338-4643. Patrons are required to wear masks and social distance. On Wednesday, March 3, at 5:30 p.m., an open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will take place in the Milford Community Center and via Zoom. The agenda will be posted on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer their thoughts in order to make MML a better library.
 
Thursday, February 26, is the last day for MML’s Young Adult (4th – 12th graders) Subscription Box: Donut Worry, Be Happy. If you would like to receive this this box, register by calling (712) 338-4643 or emailing [email protected].
 
If Winter Comes, Tell It I’m Not Here by Simona Ciraolo is a new children’s picture book. The book’s title made us laugh because we are all feeling this way, especially after the bitter temperatures from last week.  The little boy is so sad to see all the summer fun starting to end and isn’t look forward to winter. However, as he goes through the season, he remembers all the things he likes and realizes maybe it isn’t so bad.  If Winter Comes, Tell It I’m Not Here, reminds us to appreciate the little enjoyments each season brings and does not last forever.  This children’s book is available for check out at Milford Memorial Library.

The last Grab and Go Bag for February is ready to go, and families should pick them up at the drive-up window by Friday, February 26.  The theme is Valentine’s Day with the craft being a toilet paper roll heart mouse.

Paint Night sign-up is going on now for Tuesday, February 23! To pre-register, contact the library at (712) 338-4643 and the cost is $5. Pick up your Paint Night Kit on Friday, February 19, Monday, February 22, or Tuesday, February 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and you can pay when you pick up your kit. Kits include a 10 x 20 wood canvas, wood edges, wood glue, paint, paint brush, and instructions. You can do this kit on your own and a special video link will be provided for visual instructions. Donut Worry, MML’s Young Adult (4th – 12th graders) Subscription Box: Donut Worry, Be Happy is still available through Thursday, February 26. The box is baked full of donut inspired activities. Register for this free program by calling (712) 338-4643 or emailing [email protected].

Select the type of items you want to view and indicate how far back to explore. Click search. The compiled list will first display materials in the process of being available for checkout, followed by the materials physically in our library, and finally what can be downloaded onto Libby.             Milford Memorial Library will be closed on Monday, February 15, in observance of President’s Day.  Our normal drive-up hours will resume Tuesday, February 16, at 10:00 a.m.

Join MML’s Adult Craft Series: DIY Lavender Soap. This kit contains goats milk soap base, lavender essential oil, lavender petals, silicone mold, written instructions, and a link to the video tutorial. This craft does require pre-registration and the cost is $5.00.
