Tuesday, May 11, through Thursday, May 27, take a walk on the wild side with MML’s Young Adult (4th-12th Graders) Subscription Box: Talk with the Animals. This box is loaded with animal inspired activities, reading list, watch list, playlist, and recipes. The main attraction is the Animal Bum hooks. All critter supplies with be provided for this free-range activity. To sign up, call 712-338-4643 or email [email protected].  You may pick up your box at the library’s drive- up window.
Relax with a wood wick soy flower candle that you create yourself. This Adult Craft Night kit contains soy wax, wood wick, essential oil, dried flower petals, glass container and instructions. This craft does require pre-registration and the cost is $5.00. Did you know MML could help you with your Mother’s Day plans? Not only do we have books about how amazing Mom is and how to make special gifts for her, but we also have quality time activities.  Take a drive with her and listen to an audiobook, cook with/ for her from a cookbook, watch a DVD with her, or even sit and talk while completing a puzzle. Mom does not want a lot, she just wants to spend time with you and Milford Memorial Library can help.

Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner
 
Milford Memorial Library has a variety of youth programming during May.  There are Grab and Go Bags and Books, and the themes include caterpillars (May 3-14) and rainbows (May 17-28).  If you registered for a bag/s, please pick them up from the drive-up window as soon as possible because Miss Becca is needing the space for the next round of bags.  Also this month are Book Bundles, and the five different book themes include Click-Clack, How to Catch, Spot, Iowa, and Cool Projects.  These bundles last the entire length of May.  Please contact MML or Miss Becca for more information.

On Wednesday, May 5, an open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will take place in the Milford Community Center and via Zoom. The agenda will be posted on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer their thoughts in order to make MML a better library.

Check out MML’s cake pans for your graduation party. We have graduation inspired cake pans such as the smiley grad, an open book, a star, and cake pop molds. Then click the “High School” banner.  Another page will come up and click “Federal Student Aid”. This will open a list of the most common financial aid topics, along with where to find the information on Federal Student Aid websites.

Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner
 
Milford Memorial Library has four large performers for the 2021 Youth Summer Reading Program.  All performers will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursdays, June 17 and 24, and July 1 and 8.  They will be located either at the Community Room or Florence Park.  The awesome performers include: Jason Kollum (juggler), Pockets Full of Fun (dog, stories, puppet), Mr. Stinky Feet (music, movement), and Absolute Science (bubbles).  Please stay connected with MML and any upcoming details through our Facebook page (@milfordlibrary) or the website at http://www.milford.lib.ia.us.

Paint Night sign-up is going on now for Tuesday, April 27! To pre-register, contact the library at (712) 338-4643 and the cost is $5. Pick up your Paint Night Kit on Friday, April 23, Monday, April 26, or Tuesday, April 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and you can pay when you pick up your kit. Kits include a plate for canvas, paint, paint brush, and instructions. You can do this kit on your own and a special video link will be provided for visual instructions. Our voyage is halfway through with MML’s Young Adult (4th-12th Graders) Subscription Box: Adventure Awaits! Create your own mountains by learning a paint washing technique. You can take little side tours with the travel inspired playlist, reading list, watch list, recipes, and other activities. Book your spot on the last leg of this journey   by calling 712-338-4643 or emailing [email protected]. This travel adventure box can be experience until Thursday, April 29. Step back in time with the Digital Archives of Dickinson County Newspapers. With the help of 11 area newspapers, dates ranging from 1870 -2018, you can experience how the big and small events shaped our area. You may also find some family history. This time capsule can be found by going the Milford Memorial Library website, www.milford.lib.ia.us, click “Use Our Library” tab and then click the “Do Research” tab. You will find the Digital Archives of Dickinson County newspapers.

Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner
 
Get excited for the 2021 Youth Summer Reading Program at the Milford Memorial Library!  We plan to have in person programming going on each day of the week!  On Mondays, there will be any leftover Grab and Go Bags (simple craft bag) from the previous week.  Tuesdays will feature Facebook Fun (online interaction), and Wednesdays will be Sidewalk Shenanigans (outside play and yoga).  On Thursdays, MML will have four large performances including a juggler, puppet and real dog, music and movement, and bubbles.  We will end the week on Friday by having Building Bookworms (storytime and local presenters) and Grab and Go Bags.  Please mark your calendar for the Kick Off Celebration at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 10, at Florence Park.

Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner
 
Milford Memorial Library had their annual Spring Coloring Contest.  The kiddos were able to color and design a simple egg in their own creative ways.  There were two winners, one for the young and one for the old age groups.  Congratulations to Oliver and Eden!  Also, a big thank you to everyone who participated in the contest.  Please check out all 208 of the eggs in the library windows throughout the week.
