Festival of Wreaths voting will be Monday, November 30, - Friday, December 4. Awards this year are for best personal/family, best organization, best business, most creative, and librarian's choice. We look forward to seeing all the creative wreaths around the library.  Join MML for our Holiday Fantasy Library Festival Stroll Wednesday, December 2, Thursday, December 3, and Friday, December 4, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This event will include kids to go holiday crafts, and cookies to go provided by the Friends of the Milford Memorial Library, and voting on wreaths.

The library is also hosting the food drive this year for Holiday Fantasy. This ongoing food drive for Dickinson County Upper Des Moines will end on Friday, December 18. Nonperishable food items can be brought to the Milford Memorial Library.

Be our guest to MML’s Young Adult (4th-12th graders) Subscription Box: A Disney December. This enchanting box includes a lantern from galaxies far far away, an ornament that will have Sandy Claws asking “what’s this?”, and a place to display what’s worth melting for.  While you work, you can whistle along with the playlist, enjoy a to watch list you will never outgrow, and try delicious recipes. If you don’t believe us, just ask the dishes. Anything can happen if you pre-register at 712-338-4643 or [email protected]. Don’t be late for the very important pick up dates of Tuesday, December 8, through Wednesday, December 23. We will see ya real soon!

Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner
 
Milford Memorial Library and Miss Becca would love for your family to be a part of December’s youth programming.  There are two opportunities for Grab and Go Bags and Books.  The first one’s theme is Santa, and it will run from December 7-18.  The craft will be a toilet paper roll Santa searcher.

 The second one’s theme is cookies, and it will run from December 21-31.  The craft will be a Cookie Monster cut out.  There will be 35 bags, and they will be outside on Mondays (weather dependent) and the Drive-up Window the rest of the week.  Please feel free to reserve a bag and some books by getting in contact with Miss Becca ([email protected], 338-4643).  It will make things so much easier for you, and you will have happy kiddos.

Join us on Tuesday, November 24, for a Paint Night! Contact the library at (712) 338-4643 to pre-register and the cost is $5. Pick up your Paint Night Kit on Friday, November 20, Monday, November 23, or Tuesday, November 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and pay when you pick up your kit. All kits includes a canva, paint, paint brush, and instructions. You can do this kit on your own and a special video link will be provided for visual instructions. Tuesday, November 24, is the last day to register for MML’s Free YA Subscription Box: The Root of Gratitude and Wednesday, November 25, will be the last day to pick up.

The last November Grab and Go Bag and Books at Milford Memorial Library will go out over the next two weeks (Nov. 16-30).  The theme is Mo Willems’s pigeon character.  The craft is a cute handprint pigeon made out of various colors of construction paper and a googly eye.  Miss Becca has also pulled a bunch of books that feature the crazy pigeon that you can read with your kiddos over Thanksgiving Break.  Depending on the weather, the 30 bags can be found out front on Mondays and the Drive-up Window the rest of the week.  Feel free to call or email Miss Becca to reserve a bag (338-4643, [email protected]).

Lastly, get excited because December Grab and Go Bags and Books are in the works, and they will be on the themes of Santa (craft: toilet paper roll Santa searcher) and cookies (craft: Cookie Monster cut out).

Fourth through Twelfth Graders may pick up MML’s Subscription Box: The Root of Gratitude on Monday, November 9, through Tuesday, November 24. The box contains a succulent project, playlist, reading list, to-be watched list, recipe, and other grateful activities. This is a free program, but registration is required. Participants may pick up the box at the Milford Memorial Library.

Join MML for our Adult Craft Series as we make a DIY Gnome! Contact the Milford Memorial Library for more information and to pre-register. The cost of the craft is $5. Participants can pick up their kits at the library Monday, Nov. 16, Tuesday, Nov. 17, and Wednesday, Nov. 18. Each kit will include everything to make the gnome except for hot glue.

Milford Memorial Library has closed their doors to the public once again because of the rise of local Covid numbers, but the Drive-up Window is still available each day. Miss Becca would be more than happy to pull some books for your family so you can enjoy literacy at home. Get in contact with her through a phone call or email (338-4643, [email protected]).

Scarecrow Grab and Go Bags/Books still have one more week, and then MML will end the month with Mo Willems-Pigeon bags (Nov. 16-30). Feel free to reserve them ahead of time through Miss Becca. Depending on the weather, Afterschool Sidewalk Shenanigans will be at 3:30 P.M. this coming Thursday, November 12. The craft will be a painted paper plate turkey, and if it has to be cancelled, the craft can be ready for pick up that day only if you call/email ahead of time.
