Milford Memorial Library is hosting the Festival of Trees again this year for Milford’s Holiday Fantasy. On Monday, November 28, participants will be able to start setting up their trees for the Festival of Trees. This year the Festival of Trees is Friday, December 2, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., during Milford’s Holiday Fantasy. We will have a program, refreshments by the Friends of the Library, and voting on trees. The awards this year are for best personal/family tree, best organization tree, best business tree, most creative, and librarian's choice. All winners will receive both a $20 gift certificate to Perkins and $20 in Milford Bucks from the Friends of the Milford Memorial Library. The winner of the best business tree will also receive a handmade traveling trophy. Anyone can set up a tree when the library is open. The Milford library hours are 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 9:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays. The library is also hosting the food drive this year for Holiday Fantasy. This ongoing food drive for Dickinson County Upper Des Moines will start on Monday, November 21, and end on Friday, December 16. Nonperishable food items can be brought to the Milford Memorial Library.
Milford Memorial Library will not have story time Friday, November 25, because of the Thanksgiving holiday. Please join MML’s children’s librarian, Betty Naab, on December 2nd for public story time starting at 11:00 a.m.!
Area libraries are sponsoring another Paint Night at the Library in December! Join area libraries on Tuesday, December 6, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Arnolds Park Library for a fun night of painting, community, and snacks! Register early because there are only 30 spots available. The cost for early registration is $7.50 and registration the day of the event is $15. Those interested can register at the Arnolds Park Public Library, Spirit Lake Public Library, and the Milford Memorial Library. Attendees of any skill level are invited to recreate a beautiful painting by following step-by-step instructions from the artist who created the original painting. Participants will be painting on a 16 x 20 canvas and all the supplies are provided by the libraries. Mark your calendars for Paint Night at the Library!
