MML’s Blind Date with a book is back! All you will know is the genre and some written information. It could be a little bit funny, a little bit sad, or make you a bit glad to have picked it up. You will either tell everybody this is your book or you are never ever getting it again. A bookmark is located in each book. Return the completed bookmark to the library to be placed into a drawing. Drawing prizes are sponsored by the Friends of the Milford Library. Blind Date books are available for all age groups.
Join us at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, in the Milford Community Center for the program History of the Hershey Chocolate Company presented by Laura Keyes. Today the name Hershey is synonymous with quality milk chocolate. Milton S. Hershey worked hard and failed often before his chocolate company was finally successful. And when he did become a household name and had earned a vast fortune, Milton and his wife Catherine decided to give it all away. Because of their generosity, tens of thousands of orphans have been saved, protected, and educated. A program about chocolate wouldn't be complete without hot chocolate for attendees! This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Arnolds Park Library, Friends of the Milford Library and Friends of the Spirit Lake Public Library.
MML’s Young Adult Cross Stitch Challenge will be available Tuesday, February 13th – Friday, February 23rd. Register by calling MML at 712-338-4643 or online at http://milfordlibrary.weebly.com/young-adult-registration.html
On Tuesday, February 20, at 1:00 p.m., the Milford Memorial Library Book Club will be meeting to discuss The Kitchen Counter Cooking School by Kathleen Flinn. Any interested individuals are welcome to attend.
On Wednesday, February 7, at 5:30 p.m., an open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will take place in the Milford Community Center. The agenda will be posted on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer their thoughts in order to make MML a better library.
Milford Memorial Library: Youth Corner
Milford Memorial Library would like to give a big shout out to all of the families and guardians who brought kiddos to our library throughout January. It warmed our hearts and it is a great way to start 2024! February begins with sensory play, Minds in Motion, at 10:30 am on Monday, February 5. Later in the week, we have Afterschool Adventures at 3:30 pm on Thursday, February 8. The game is Valentine’s Day BINGO. MML is excited to have a guest presenter, Miss Noel, from ISU Dickinson County 4-H and Youth. This is in place of our regular Building Bookworms and starts at 10:30 am on Monday, February 12. Miss Becca ends the month with another Building Bookworms at 10:30 am on Monday, February 26, featuring the book, Duck for President.
