The theme for the 2015 Children’s Summer Reading Program is “On Your Mark, Get Set…Read!” Come to the library Tuesday, June 21, at 10 a.m., to see the YMCA staff with “Staying Fit is Cool!” Join us every Tuesday and Friday at 10 a.m., through July 5, for stories, crafts, drama, and more! Young people of all abilities from preschool to 4th grade are invited to participate free of charge. Join the Milford Memorial Library staff for MML's Adult Summer Craft Series this June! Every Wednesday, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Milford Memorial Library will host an adult craft. The cost to participate in each project is $2 and registration is required. The Summer Craft Series project for June 15 is Chocolate Raspberry Drip Cake. Join us in making a two layer chocolate cake with raspberry filling. The cake will be covered in buttercream frosting with a chocolate ganache drip on top. Take home your creation to share with family or friends. Next week, June 22, come to the library to make concrete stepping stones. “Iowa’s Own Monuments Man: George Stout” will be presented by the director of the Winterset Public Library, Nancy Trask. This program is at the Spirit Lake Public Library on Saturday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m. Nancy Trask will present historical slides about the WWII Monuments Men, especially introducing George Stout, who was born and raised in Winterset, Iowa. George Clooney’s character in “The Monuments Men” movie was based on George Stout, although the character was named Frank Stokes for the sake of artistic license in the movie.
If you are in 4th – 12th grade come to the Milford Memorial Library Thursday, June 23, at 1:00 p.m., Bedell Family YMCA Fitness Coordinator, Brittney Janicek will be at the library to talk about wellness and have a fun activity.
