Milford Memorial Library will be closed on Monday, September 1, in observance of Labor Day. We look forward to seeing everyone when we reopen on Tuesday, September 2, at 9:30 a.m. We hope you have a fun and safe holiday weekend.

Join MML, on Thursday, September 11, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for After-School Adventures. You will be creating your own DIY Scratch Art. A small snack is provided during this free activity.

Hospice can be an intimidating topic, but it doesn’t need to be. Join MML on Thursday, September 18, at 10:00 a.m., as we welcome Cari from St. Croix Hospice for an informative program. She will explain what hospice is, what they do, and answer questions. Refreshments will be provided for this free program.

On Monday, September 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., join Milford Memorial Library for All-Day Play! Discover new and exciting toys while having fun with friends during this come-and-go playtime. All toys are supplied by MML.

Fourth through twelfth graders, get crafty at Milford Memorial Library during MML’s Y.A. Maker Monday, on September 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. MML will have the supplies to make a washer necklace or bracelet and you can bring a friend. This is a free come-and-go activity.

On Wednesday, September 3, at 5:30 p.m., an open meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Milford Memorial Library will take place in the Milford Community Center. The agenda will be posted on MML’s website and front bulletin board at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend and offer their thoughts in order to make MML a better library.
 
Join MML for our weekly Building Bookworms Storytime on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Take a look below for our themes. All materials and services are provided by the library free to participants. All kids and their adults are welcome to stay after storytime and mingle. For more information contact the library or check out our Facebook page.

Join us on Tuesday, August 26, at 7:00 p.m., at the Milford Memorial Library, for a fun night of painting. Any skill level is invited. This month will be an Open Paint Night. We will have projects for you to choose from and helping hands will be available for guidance. All of the supplies will be provided by the libraries. There are only 25 spots available so pre-register at the Arnolds Park Public Library, Spirit Lake Public Library, or the Milford Memorial Library. The cost is $15.00. Registrants will need to pay prior to the event to secure their spot.

Stop by MML to see the Brass Collection, provided by Amy O’Connor. Are you able to find the little mice, the butterfly, and how many birds are there? This collection will only be here for a little while longer. So, don’t miss your chance.

Milford Memorial Library has a variety of puzzles available for check out. Browse the puzzle binder, located under the self-checkout computer, and let a librarian know what number you would like and they will get it for you.

Want to try an audiobook, but don’t want to download another app or get another device? Try a Playaway. A Playaway is a preloaded, all-in-one audiobook player. You only need wired headphones or an Aux cord to listen. A Playaway can be used on walks, drives, or at home. Do you have a collection you would like to share with others? Fill out a Friends of the Milford Library Display Case Slip with your name, contact and collection information. Turn in the slip, and a member of the Friends of the Milford Library Foundation will get in touch with you about your collection.

As all good things have come to an end, so does the 2025 Milford Memorial Library Level Up at Your Library Summer Reading Program. We would like to thank everyone who took the time read, attend programs, and visit local businesses. MML hopes you had fun and are looking forward to next year as much as we are.
 
Thank our community partners and the Friends of the Milford Library, who helped make the 2025 summer reading program fun and a success. We appreciate your support of area youth, literacy, and Milford Memorial Library.
 
Join MML for CrAFTER Hours as we make Mosaic Tile Coasters on Wednesday, August 20, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The cost for this craft is $5.00 and registration is required. You can register by contacting Milford Memorial Library at 712-338-4643.

The Milford Library Book Club will be discussing The Quiet Librarian by Allen Eskens on Tuesday, August 19, at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to this public book club and it is not necessary to attend all of the book meetings.

Join Milford Memorial Library on Tuesday, August 12, at 6:30 p.m., to welcome Green Iowa AmeriCorps member, Nick. He will be talking about nature with a focus on medicinal and edible native plants, the basics of permaculture gardening, and practices used and future growth. Nick will also give information about the apple orchard that was planted in conjunction with the Dickinson County Hunger Coalition. Everyone is welcome to attended this free event.

The Milford Library Book Club will discuss The Quiet Librarian by Allen Eskens on Tuesday, August 20, at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to this public book club and it is not necessary to attend all of the book meetings.

Did you know there are various ways to leave a material review at Milford Memorial Library? First a patron may write down their review and drop it off at MML. Secondly, patrons may go to MML’s website, www.milford.lib.ia.us., and click “Search Our Catalog” and login in with their information.  After logging in, search the title and click on it. As a result, more information will appear. The patron will click on the grey button stating “Review this title”. After clicking, the patron will simply fill out the form and click” submit for approval. If approved, the review will appear in the online catalog. Patrons may use this process to review Bridges materials also. Lastly, is by sharing on social media. Patrons may create their own social media post of Milford Memorial Library material and tag MML in their post. For Bridges users, an upload to social media button can be found near the material’s cover when in the electronic library. Click on the symbol and then following the directions to share with social media and tag MML.
